Who we are

A cinema studio, a design office, and a performance lab as one.

The story of Cinema Buro begins, as many good things do, with friends, a few beers, and a conversation that refused to stay small. It was just after Covid; London was waking up again, and one of those evenings became the quiet spark that would eventually redefine what a private cinema can be.

But the real story begins much earlier. For more than a decade, the roots of Cinema Buro were taking shape in parallel, in different countries and different disciplines, each chasing the same frustration: that the world's finest private cinemas were still being assembled as lists of equipment, not engineered as rooms.

Those years weren't spent quietly. Our principals helped write the international standards the rest of the industry is now measured against, so when we say a room performs, it is held to a benchmark we authored, not one we invented for the brochure.

That conversation planted the seed for a complete reimagining. That concept became Foundry, our private demonstration studio, and from Foundry, the next evolution became obvious: Cinema Buro.

The invisible build quality is what makes the visible elements shine. Behind every finished room sits an engineered spine: acoustic isolation, resonance control, and reference-grade signal, integrated into the architecture rather than bolted on.

We treat joinery with the same seriousness as the main structure, coordinate every speaker mount and cavity into the drawings, and hold the whole build to an agreed performance level, from concept, through modelling, to final calibration.
